Pamela Waldher left the west coast for Fayetteville, but things quickly began to unravel.

WRAL's Gerald Owens has tonight's NC Wanted mystery.She was a teenager, at a crossroad in life. Pamela Waldher left her grandparents' home in Washington state in the summer of 2004....intent on establishing a relationship with her father in Fayetteville.

The novelty quickly wore off. Her grandparents say the 16 year old soon had second thoughts.

In January of the following year, the A-student, completely out of character, disappeared. Her father, Beau Garcia, filed a missing person's report. Rumors began to swirl, that he had something to do with it. Garcia's girlfriend even filed a complaint, saying he mistreated his daughter.

Two years after her disappearance, a major break in the case. Human remains were found in a remote area on Fort Bragg. DNA confirmed it was Pamela Waldher.

Police interviewed her father as a possible suspect. They say Garcia refused to take a polygraph test, but he has never been charged.
