NC Wanted: Rocky Mount teenager thankful to be alive after shooting
A Rocky Mount teenager is lucky to be alive after being shot by a passing driver on Aug. 30, 2015.
Posted — UpdatedQuontellas Norwood – the star football player at Southwest Edgecombe High School – was driving down Leggett Road in Rocky Mount when someone in a passing car fired shots, which hit the 17-year-old several times in the neck and hand.
No arrests have ever been made in the case.
Norwood made it to a nearby home to ask for help after being shot.
she was like, 'If I've got anything to do with it you're not going to die sir,’” Norwood said.
“I had my doubts that he would ever be back, or ever play football again,” coach said.
Norwood did return to the football field after a month of recovery, missing only four games.
“When you get another chance at life, as far as what we have with him, I’m just grateful,” said Lashell Norwood.
Norwood said he will never take life for breath for granted after what he’s been through.
