NC Wanted: Questions surround disappearance of Raleigh woman
Fifteen years after Leah Roberts disappeared, her family and friends continue to search for answers.
Posted — UpdatedRoberts, a former N.C. State student, left the Triangle in March of 2000 after the death of her parents, without a word to anyone.
"It's unlike Leah to not have called to let us know that she's okay for this amount of time," said Roberts' sister, Kara. "Especially knowing that her car would have been found by now."
Police found her wrecked Jeep along a road in Washington State. According to investigators, the SUV went over an embankment at a high rate of speed, but Leah was no where to be found.
"There wasn't any evidence of injury," said her brother, Heath. "There was no blood, there were no marks on the windshield that indicated that anyone may have crashed it."
According to investigators, receipts in the vehicle show that gas was purchased in Oregon, four days after she left Raleigh. A movie theater ticket was also purchased.
In 2004, volunteers traveled 3,000 miles retracing her tracks around the anniversary of her disappearance.
"I miss her smile, her sense of humor, her sarcasm, her love of life. She's just a really good person," Kara Roberts said.
