RALEIGH, N.C. — Friday is the last day to register to vote in the Nov. 6 election for those who plan to cast ballots in person on election day. Voters must have their forms postmarked or hand-delivered by 5 p.m.

North Carolina's one-stop voting period, which begins next Thursday, Oct. 18, allows voters to both register and vote, so Friday is not the absolute deadline for those who wish to cast a vote.

Voters, even those who have not previously registered, can register and cast a ballot at early-voting locations between Oct. 18 and Nov. 3 with proof of name and residence.
