NC State Fair Edition

Instead of doing our typical Five Faves this week, we decided to list the five things we absolutely love about the North Carolina State Fair, which starts Thursday!

Deep-fried everything - This is the one time of the year, we can justify eating a candy bar that has been deep fried. It is the fair and maybe the long hike across the fairgrounds will help us lose those extra calories. Definitely try: Deep-fried pecan pie, Milky Ways and Twinkies. 

Hanging with WRAL's Ken Smith - Every year we see Ken Smith at the fair and we end up sharing Al's Fries, peach cobbler and whatever else smells really good. Remember when he ate the Krispy Kreme burger? Can't wait to see what he is up to this year. 

Entertainment - We love checking out the concerts at Dorton Arena and the performers at the fairgrounds. We are excited to see the high-energy performances from the Hansens Spectacular Acrobatic Sensations. They perform daily. Also make sure to catch the Circle C Racing Pigs. 

Rides - Whether you are a daredevil or just prefer the carousel, there is a ride for everyone at the fair. We love the giant slide, ferris wheel and the scrambler. 

Making new friends - The Out and About crew will be at the fair everyday, roaming around and capturing the fun in photos and slideshows! Make sure to say 'hi' if you spot us and make sure to drop by the WRAL tent at the fair on Friday afternoon to get some Out and About swag from us!
