Posted — UpdatedGov. Roy Cooper on Thursday joined other Democratic leaders in North Carolina in calling for President Trump's removal from office. It’s a chorus that has been growing among lawmakers who were at the Capitol on Wednesday when a mob broke in, derailed and delayed the formal certification of the November election.
Rep. Alma Adams (D-12) made the same call, urging Vice President Mike Pence and the president’s cabinet to remove him from office under the 25th Amendment, which allows for removal if a president is considered mentally unfit for the job.
Adams said the riots were predictable, but the Capitol wasn't prepared for them.
WRAL News reached out to each of the 10 Republican members of the North Carolina Congressional delegation. Not one agreed to an interview about the riots or the party's role in them.
