The N.C. Museum of Natural Sciences offers a science program for middle school girls

It's time to apply for the N.C. Museum of Natural Sciences' Girls in Science afterschool program.

The program is designed for sixth and seventh grade girls who love science and nature. Participants will explore the outdoors, go behind the scenes at the museum and meet female scientists from a range of scientific disciplines. They'll follow migratory patterns of many species, learn about the changing seasons and build tools to understand the world, according to the description.

Applications are due by 5 p.m., Sept. 18. The program costs $150. Scholarships are available. Much more information, including the application, is available on the downtown Raleigh museum's website.
This is one of several museum programs for tweens and teens, including boys.
