The event is part of a world-wide celebration right around the summer solstice. Visitors can observe and learn more about the Sun. It's 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., Sunday, at the downtown Raleigh museum. The afternoon includes presentations about the sun, how it affects life on Earth and how spacecraft help us study the sun.
Visitors also can have a safe look at the sun through telescopes on the rooftop terrace of the Nature Research Center.
