SPRING HOPE, N.C. — Authorities in Nash County are warning drivers about a potential carjacking scam.

A juvenile arrested in Nash County said he carjacked someone as part of a gang initiation.

Authorities said the carjacking occurred on June 9 at the intersection of Pleasant Grove Church Road and N.C. Highway 581 near Spring Hope.

According to authorities, something is placed in the road to get a driver to stop. The individuals then ambush the car and the driver, authorities said.

The juvenile has been charged with two counts of kidnapping, one count of armed robbery, larceny of a motor vehicle, two counts of damage to property.

Investigators said the gang in question is said to be from the Raleigh area.
