N.C. Theatre lines up family favorites for next season

The N.C. Theatre recently released its schedule for the 2015-2016 season and there are several family favorites on the list.

The shows all take place at the Duke Energy Center for Performing Arts in downtown Raleigh. Family-friendly shows include "Into the Woods," which runs Oct. 20 to Oct. 25. That's the same "Into the Woods" that's been on the big screen. The story follows classic fairytale characters before and after the words "happily ever after."

And I'm very excited about "Disney's and Cameron Mackintosh's Mary Poppins," which will be on stage in July 2016. The Disney movie comes to live in this musical stage production.

Older kids might enjoy "Grease," which runs Feb. 9 to Feb. 14. And "Dirty Dancing" also is on the schedule. It runs Sept. 8 to Sept. 13. (and, yes, I now have "(I've Had) The Time of My Life" in my head now).
