N.C. ferry, yacht collide off Ocracoke
A state-run ferry and a 35-foot motor yacht collided in the ferry channel off Ocracoke Island Saturday evening, according to the Coast Guard.

The ferry Carteret, which runs from Cedar Island to Ocracoke, and the yacht Tony C collided around 8:30 p.m., officials said. The cause remains under investigation.
The Coast Guard brought EMTs to check out the passengers and crew, but no one was injured.
Eight passengers, crew members and one car were aboard the ferry. Two crew members and two dogs were aboard the yacht.
The ferry had no major damage and returned to Ocracoke, according to the Coast Guard. The yacht had a hole from slightly above the waterline to the deck and had to be towed.
The collision came as ferry service was ramping after being suspended as Hurricane Earl brushed the Outer Banks.
