RALEIGH, N.C. — The North Carolina Association of Educators sponsored a rally on Saturday to protest pay cuts and potential threats to public school funding.

About 800 people attended the rally in the front courtyard of the NCAE Center in downtown Raleigh. A motorcade followed.

NCAE President Sheri Strickland says the organization wants to let elected leaders know that tough economic times will turn into even tougher economic times if the state budget is balanced with cuts to teacher salaries and school funding.
