The bears, lemurs and other animals at the Museum of Life and Science will get a cool treat this Friday during Watermelon Day.

From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Friday, visitors can watch bears wrestle for whole melons in the pool or lemurs enjoying frozen melon pops. There also will be watermelon experiments and a special melon-themed menu at Sprouts Cafe. Friday happens to be National Watermelon Day.

I'm told kids love watching the animals making an absolute mess. An added bonus: If you bring a whole watermelon for the animal keepers from Aug. 1 to Aug. 31, you will be entered to win a special behind the scenes bear experience for four.

For more information and the full schedule, check the museum's website. Everything (except meals at Sprout) is free with admission, which is $14 for adults and $10 for kids ages 3 to 12.
