Multi-use building headed to downtown Raleigh
A proposed mixed use building is in the works in Raleigh, which could include a grocery store along with other retail and residential units.
Posted — UpdatedThe project – still in the early phases – will be located at Peace and West streets, and it promises to put more than 400 residential units on the market.
“Peace Street is a really important street but it's still a somewhat underdeveloped street, so this started to bring density to that and change the character of that street,” said Bill King of Raleigh Alliance.
“It would be our densest single building, which is important because that’s a lot of people living on one block,” King said.
Along with 400 residential units, the development will also feature retail stores on the bottom level.
Developer John Kane says a new grocery store may be included in the plans.
King said bringing a grocery store to downtown Raleigh is a top priority for the Raleigh Alliance.
“This is the beginning of having strong downtowns in a way that we never really had before,” he said.
