A Wendell man died when his motorcycle crashed along Shotwell Road, north of Clayton, shortly after midnight Saturday, according to state troopers.

<b>CLAYTON, N.C.</b> — A Wendell man died when his motorcycle crashed along Shotwell Road, north of Clayton, shortly after midnight Saturday, according to state troopers.

Troopers said that Preston Walker Beach, 53, was northbound when his black Honda motorcycle ran off the right side of Shotwell Road, near Covered Bridge Road. The motorcycle's rear wheel struck a concrete driveway, tossing Beach from the bike.

Troopers were still investigating the cause of the wreck.
