RALEIGH, N.C. — A motorcyclist was killed late Sunday in a wreck in east Raleigh, police said.

The wreck occurred at about 10 p.m. Sunday when Tarq Shamar Clarida, 26, of 7800 S. Montana Drive in Raleigh, was speeding on Corporation Parkway and lost control of his motorcycle, police said.

Clarida became separated from his motorcycle, and he slid under a Jeep that was making a left-hand turn into a back access drive for a nearby Kroger supermarket, police said.

The motorcycle left 100 feet of skid marks on the pavement before impact, and it traveled another 300 feet after Clarida became separated from it, police said.

The wreck caused officers to close Corporation Parkway for a while overnight.
