Motorcyclist critically injured in Durham accident

A motorcyclist was critically injured in a three-vehicle accident Tuesday evening.

DURHAM, N.C. — A motorcyclist was critically injured in a three-vehicle accident Tuesday evening.

Just before 5p.m. Monday, a van driven by Ryan Doherty, 39, of Durham pulled out from a business of the 5200 block of North Roxboro Street and clipped a motorcycle driven by Jordan Appel, 21, of Durham.

The impact knocked the motorcycle onto the far right side of the southbound lane, where it was struck by a Toyota RAV4 driven by Karen Rodenhizer,59, of Durham.

Appel was taken to the hospital for treatment of critical injuries.

No charges have been filed in the case.
