MORRISVILLE, N.C. — The Morrisville Police Department is investigating two recent reports of counterfeit money used to purchase items listed on the website “OfferUp.”

In both cases, people met someone in a public area to sell an item. Later, they realized they had been paid in counterfeit currency. The bills were imprinted and had duplicate serial numbers.

Morrisville police recommend everyone check the serial number on bills for duplication and do not accept money if you feel uncomfortable.

If you have been a victim of the scam or have any information, call the Morrisville Police Department at 919-463-1600.
