Morehead Planetarium and Science Center is now operating under its summer hours.

The Chapel Hill destination typically is open to the public on the weekends during the year (with some exceptions during the holidays). During the summer, it operates a Tuesday to Sunday schedule. The summer schedule runs through Aug. 23.

The schedule includes kid favorites such as "Magic Tree House Space Mission," "Grossology & You," and "One World, One Sky: Big Bird's Adventure."} Morehead's website has more information, descriptions and handy age recommendations for each of the shows.
This summer, as I mentioned in my Summer Guide, Morehead also has a new free Science 260 program called "Peek at Pluto." The program describes how Pluto is similar and different to the planets of our Solar System. It also discusses NASA's New Horizons mission, which is taking photographs of Pluto from space this summer. It's best for ages 10 and up.
