The Fair Folks have also announced a few more details about special events. Seniors (65+) get their own special day at the Fair. They get in free every day, of course, but on October 16 (Tuesday) they'll also get the Senior Citizen Fun Festival, which starts at 9am at Dorton Arena. Bojangles' is sponsoring the free breakfast and entertainment.
October 16 is also Twisted Tuesday. Jared Fogle (also known as "The Subway Guy") will be announcing the winner of the Twisted Sub Competition. I had no idea what the Twisted Sub Competition is, and I still don't. Mr. Fogle will be determining which subs are most "twisted," though, so I'm guessing we'll be looking at some peanut butter/cheese/onion sandwiches. The five subs will be judged at 2pm in the Sam Rand Grandstand in conjunction with the Keith King Bicycle Stunt Show.
October 17 (Wednesday) is Military Appreciation Day, which offers free admission to active duty, reserve, and National Guard service members or spouses with up to four guests. Military ID will be required. And October 18 is Food Lion Hunger Relief Day. Bring four canned food products to the Fair for free admission.
