Moped driver dies on Fayetteville road

As the moped and a black Ford Taurus approached one another on Legion Road, the moped crossed over the center line and struck the Ford Taurus head on, police said.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — A moped driver died after being hit by a vehicle Wednesday afternoon in front of Legion Park in Fayetteville.

As the moped and a black Ford Taurus approached one another on Legion Road, the moped crossed over the center line and struck the Ford Taurus head on, police said.

The driver of the moped died at the scene. Paramedics transported the Ford Taurus driver, Golden Bacot, 22, and two passengers to Cape Fear Valley Hospital for treatment. Their conditions were not released.

The identity of the moped driver was withheld until next of kin can be notified. He was found to be at fault for the accident, police said.
