Moore County pair charged in theft of church safe

Moore County sheriff’s deputies said Friday that Curtis Ray Hardy, 32, of the 1200 block of Samuel Medlin Lane in Cameron, and Julianna Rae Campbell, 25, of the 600 block of McIntosh Road in Carthage, were identified as suspects following investigations into separate crimes that began in January.

Deputies investigated a report of breaking and entering and larceny of a motor vehicle in Carthage in January; a report of forgery and uttering a stolen check at First Bank in Seven Lakes in February; and a report of fraud against an individual in Carthage in March.

Deputies also found the safe, which had been stolen from the Lighthouse Assembly of God, in a wooded area of Roseland Road near Pinebluff. Evidence at the scene led to the arrest of both suspects, investigators said.

Campbell was charged with felony breaking and entering to a place of worship, felony larceny, felony safe cracking, felony possession of stolen goods, two counts of felony forgery, four counts of felony uttering of a forged endorsement, two counts of felony identity theft and one count of obtaining property by false pretense.

Campbell was held in the Moore County Detention Center under a $20,500 secured bond. Her first court appearance is set for April 8.

Hardy was charged with felony breaking and entering, felony larceny, felony possession of stolen goods, felony larceny of a motor vehicle, two counts of felony obtaining property by false pretense and felony uttering a forged endorsement.

He was held in the Moore County Detention Center under a $46,000 secured bond. His first court appearance is set for April 8.
