Moore County man faces drug trafficking charges

A Hoffman man faces drug trafficking charges after authorities said they seized prescription painkillers and cash during his arrest.

The Moore County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit, with assistance from the Aberdeen Police Department, arrested Jared Devon Malloy, 37, of the 100 block of Jamison Street, on Wednesday in the Southern Pines area.

Malloy was charged with four counts of trafficking in opium, possession with intent to sell or deliver a Schedule II controlled substance, sale of a Schedule II controlled substance, delivery of a Schedule II controlled substance and maintaining a vehicle to keep a controlled substance. All the charges are felonies.

During the arrest, officers said they seized about 150 dosage units of Oxycodone and $1,180. The estimated street value of the pills is $1,500.

Malloy was in the Moore County Detention Center under a $15,000.00 secured bond.
