Jimmy Sheffield arrested for first-degree murder
SEAGROVE, N.C. — A Moore County man was charged with murder after his girlfriend was found dead at their home in Seagrove.

Jimmy Sheffield was charged with first degree murder after South Carolina authorities found him in Myrtle Beach on Thursday night.

Debbie Owens, 40, was found dead in her bedroom on Thursday morning. Until that point, she hadn't been seen since Monday night. Neither of the two showed up for work on Tuesday.

Sheffield and Owens lived together, according to authorities. A medical examiner determined Owens’ cause of death to be homicide.

Sheffield, 52, is being held in a South Carolina detention facility on a fugitive warrant pending extradition to North Carolina.
