An 87-year-old woman reported missing late Wednesday night was found dead Thursday on East Caswell Street, Kinston police said. 

<b>KINSTON, N.C.</b> — An 87-year-old woman reported missing late Wednesday night was found dead Thursday on East Caswell Street, Kinston police said.

Vivian Hardy Purcell was reported missing after she was seen at 824 Thompson St. at about 11:15 p.m. Wednesday. Her body was found about a half-mile from there on Thursday.

Authorities said Purcell suffered from dementia and other medical issues.

No other information about her death has been released.

According to the Danville Police Department, officers received a tip of prior animal abuse at a pet grooming store on Hairston Street in Danville. In the complaint, a video showed the employee, identified as 22-year-old Cassidy Gill, striking a dog in January and February. The video in the complaint was shared with other social media accounts, including PETA.
