Mild, cloudy Monday to kick off Christmas week
The holiday week will start off cloudy and mild, with highs Monday ranging from the low to mid 50s north and west of the Triangle, to the low 60s near Fayetteville.

Monday morning started cool, with temperatures near 40 degrees at the Raleigh-Durham International Airport - about 11 degrees warmer than Sunday morning.
Temperatures are expected to warm up overnight and into Tuesday morning.
"We will see rain showers tomorrow and Wednesday. We could see up to two inches of rain by the time this is all over with," Gardner said.
Highs Tuesday will top out in the mid to upper 60s, and it will be a good idea to keep an umbrella handy, she said.
The weather remains unsettled into Wednesday, as temperatures continue to rise into the low 70s.
"We could see a chance of a thunderstorm Wednesday afternoon as rain is likely throughout the day," Gardner said.
Temperatures continue to heat up Thursday. The mercury is expected to rise into the upper 70s on Christmas Eve.
