SPRING LAKE, N.C. — Two men were arrested in Rhode Island one week after a 15-year-old was shot and killed inside a Spring Lake home on April 12.

Tommy Jackson, 23, of Sanford,  Jesse Richardson, 26, of Fayetteville, were both charged with first-degree murder, first-degree burglary, conspiracy to commit burglary and possession of a stolen motor vehicle.

They were arrested Sunday while out-of-state, according to police. The two had a handgun and were in a stolen vehicle when they were arrested. Both will be extradited back to Harnett County.

On April 12 before 3 a.m., the Harnett County Sheriff's Office responded to 911 call to a home on Cimarron Drive.

Officials said two other people – the victim's sisters – were inside the home when they arrived. Only one shot was fired, deputies said.

While law enforcement did not release the name of the boy killed, friends of the family who live nearby told WRAL News that his name is Dalton Davis.

By day's end, family members had spraypainted the words "long live Dalton" on the street outside the home.

"He was just a nice kid," said Janay Harper. "He was younger, but an old soul."

Sources close to the case told WRAL News that Davis is well known to law enforcement in this area.

Anyone with information should call the Harnett County Sheriff's Office at 910-893-0300.
