McCrory talks to UNC leaders, seeking jobs from research
North Carolina leaders want to squeeze more jobs from new technologies coming out of the state's universities.

Gov. Pat McCrory plans to visit the supervisory board of the 16-campus University of North Carolina system on Friday. He's expected to talk about an advisory council's recommendations on how to convert research innovations into jobs.
McCrory's spokesmen wouldn't say whether the governor wants to put money behind the suggestions in the state budget he proposes next month.
A 2013 study by the state Commerce Department found North Carolina has one of the country's fastest-growing populations, but the economy's productive capacity is below average. The report says while there's strong research to find scientific breakthroughs, turning them into profitable products and services lags what's needed for a strong economy.
The governor is first on the agenda for Friday's meeting of the Board of Governors.
