McCrory, McFarlane release statements on bombings
North Carolina Gov. Pat McCrory and Raleigh Mayor Nancy McFarlane released statements Tuesday about the Boston Marathon bombings. Nearly 400 runners from North Carolina were registered to participate in the marathon.

McCrory said he is continuing to monitor developments in the case.
“My thoughts and prayers go out to the victims and their families,” he said. “I especially want to share my concern for the North Carolina residents that were injured in the blasts. It is times like these that our country must come together to show support for the victims and prove our resilience to senseless acts of violence.”
McFarlane issued the following statement:
“On behalf of the residents of the City of Raleigh I extend profound sympathy to the victims and the loved ones of those killed or injured in the senseless explosions that replaced the finish line of the Boston Marathon from a place of celebration and accomplishment into a scene of horror. For 116 years Americans have joined with runners across the globe in this spring ritual that has grown into one of the world’s most renowned races.
