"Matilda the Musical," based on the classic Roald Dahl book, is coming to the Durham Performing Arts Center in January.

Tickets for this wildly popular musical are now on sale (along with "Cabaret," "42nd Street," and "If/Then"). This is one I hope to be taking my older daughter too!

Here's a description of the show: "Winner of 50 international awards, including four Tony Awards and a record-breaking seven Olivier Awards, "Matilda the Musical" is the story of an extraordinary girl who, armed with a vivid imagination and a sharp mind, dares to take a stand and change her own destiny. Based on the beloved novel by Roald Dahl (Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Fantastic Mr. Fox, James and the Giant Peach), Matilda continues to thrill sold-out audiences of all ages on Broadway and in London’s West End.  The Wall Street Journal says, “The makers of Matilda have done the impossible – triumphantly! It is smart, sweet, zany and stupendous fun.”

It's in Durham from Jan. 19 to Jan. 24. Kids under the age of 6 are not allowed in the performance. DPAC's website has ticket information for Matilda and all of the other shows.
