If you have a big celebration for a child in your life coming up in the next year, you might want to check out what's being called the World's Largest Children's Party Expo, which is slated for June 13 at the N.C. State Fairgrounds.

The expo, organized by the locally based Birthday Club, is the brainchild of Alicia Turner, a mom, who writes on her website that planning her son's birthday parties has become a passion for her. Turner lived in North Carolina for a period during her travels as a military wife. Her husband is retired and they've been out of state for a bit, but will be returning to make a home in the Triangle in May.

The expo will feature children's party vendors - from bakers to entertainers to destinations and more. There will be samples, contests, giveaways and other activities. It's scheduled for 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., June 13, in the Exposition Building at the state fairgrounds.

The event won't just help parents plan birthday parties. It's aimed at all kinds of celebrations of life such as quinceanera, bar and bat mitzvahs, graduations and other reasons to celebrate, as well. Tickets are $5. Kids 18 and under are free.

The Birthday Club's website has more information. If you're a vendor interested in being part of the event, a new, extended deadline is May 15.
