A heads up for parents with kids in the Wake County Public School System: The system will have a two-hour delay on Election Day, Nov. 8.

That means your child's school will start two hours later than normal. So if the school opens at 8 a.m. on a regular day, it will open at 10 a.m. on Election Day.

Turnout is expected to be high for the hotly contested general election and many schools are polling places.

In kind of related news, Wake schools launched a voter registration drive for high school students this week. The campaign encourages high school students to ask their teachers how they can make sure they can cast a ballot this fall.
