Marbles, Moe's team up to build fort at Raleigh museum
The six-week online fundraising campaign aims to raise $15,000. The Triangle Moe's group will match every donation up to $15,000.
Posted — UpdatedMarbles Kids Museum and Triangle Moe's Southwest Grill are working together to raise money to build a new outdoor fort at the downtown Raleigh museum.
The fort will offer a new area for outdoor play that promotes physical activity, a love of nature and imagination, according to a Marbles press release. A rendering shows a hut-like structure built up on wooden decks.
The fort also will draw more kids and families out to the outdoor garden, which features seasonal fruits, vegetables and herbs. When kids understand where their food comes from, they are more likely to develop healthy eating habits, the release says.
“The new Sun Sprouts Fort at Marbles is a fantastic way to engage community support in our mission, from the ground up,” said Sally Edwards, president of Marbles Kids Museum, in the release. “With its organic form and leaf-shaped decks, the new fort will captivate children’s imaginations and lead to fresh, new outdoor play experiences in the garden. With its own kid-friendly concept, Moe’s is an ideal partner for Marbles, and we are grateful for their support.”
