RALEIGH, N.C. — Marbles Kids Museum celebrates 10 years this week and is giving visitors the gift of more space to celebrate.

For Michelle Earnhart and three-year-old Ainsley, Marbles Kids Museum is a weekly tradition.

“When you think about the size of Raleigh and you look at other cities and what they offer the children, this museum rivals the top five cities and what they offer,” she said.

Hundreds of thousands of kids come to Marbles each year to learn, play and dream up just about anything and those who run the museum have big dreams as well, which is why they’ve acquired the building next door.

“We’re excited about the expansion of what the next 10 years looks like to help with capacity even more because we know we’ve got even more families who are wanting to come play,” said Michelle Ward with Marbles Kids Museum,

When Marbles opened in 2007, they hoped for just 175,000 visitors per year. Today, the welcome about 675,000 annually.

“Just to see her motor skills develop and her imagination come to life, it’s been tremendous,” Earnhart said.

The exact plans for the new property are still up in the air, but it will involve lots of kids and creativity.

In honor of the museums 10th anniversary on Friday, Marbles will be open until 10 p.m. and special events are scheduled.
