Because of guest demand, Marbles Kids Museum will open at 9 a.m. on Sundays starting March 11.

The new Sunday hours will be 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Marbles is currently open from noon to 5 p.m. on Sundays (as it will be this Sunday, March 3).

With the new change, Marbles hours will be 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday through Sunday. The downtown Raleigh museum is usually closed on Monday, except on school holidays.

Judging from the response on our Facebook page, this is a welcome change for many. I know I often get questions from moms who are looking for things to do on Sunday mornings.

Hours for the other kid-friendly museums in the region - N.C. Museum of Natural Sciences, N.C. Museum of History and the Museum of Life and Science, are noon to 5 p.m. on Sundays. Kidzu Children's Museum in Chapel Hill is open from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., Sundays (when admission is free).

One exception is the N.C. Museum of Art in Raleigh, which opens at 10 a.m. on Sundays. I know it's not as obviously kid friendly as Marbles, but I find it's a great place to explore with my own children.

I will round this post out with one final, friendly reminder that Marbles' new Sunday hours do not start this weekend ... they begin March 11.
