Raleigh police arrested a man and a woman early Wednesday in connection with a nearly three-year-old slaying.

Norman Trevor Williams, 24, and Jennifer Tu Taing, 24, each face a first-degree murder charge in the death of Jesse George Brunner, 26, who was found shot to death along Spanish Court early July 12, 2008.

Police spokesman Jim Sughrue said that homicide detectives have "continually and tenaciously" kept up the investigation and, on Tuesday, received "valuable information" that led to the arrests.

He said Williams was arrested at his home at 3807 Webster Road, and Taing was arrested during a traffic stop on Capitol Boulevard. They were taken to the Wake County jail.

Detectives have determined that Brunner and Williams knew one another and that the slaying was not a random act, Sughrue said. More details were not disclosed.

Williams has a single previous conviction for misdemeanor assault with a deadly weapon in 2004, according to state Department of Correction records.

The follow-up investigation of Brunner's death is continuing, and anyone with information that might help detectives is asked to call Raleigh Crime Stoppers at 919-834-4357. Crime Stoppers pays cash rewards for anonymous tips that help solve cases.
