Man who walked out of Moore Co. Sheriff's Office captured
A 27-year-old man was taken into custody twice Thursday by authorities in Moore County, once for allegedly breaking into a convenience store and several vehicles and a second time after he walked out of an interview room at the Moore County Sheriff's Office in Carthage.

Kevin Wesley Sheffield is charged with misdemeanor escape from a local jail, resisting an officer, breaking and/or entering, three counts of breaking or entering a motor vehicle and possession of stolen goods, two counts of misdemeanor larceny and one count of larceny after breaking and entering.
Sheffield was initially taken into custody early Thursday, according to Moore County Sheriff Neil Godfrey. He escaped at about 12:30 p.m. after a deputy interviewing him regarding the convenience store and vehicle break-ins left an unlocked interview room to obtain a search warrant.
After an extensive search by Moore County deputies and other law enforcement agencies, Sheffield was taken into custody again at about 9:30 p.m. near the intersection of U.S. Highway 15-501 and Union Church Road in Carthage, authorities said.
Sheffield was being held in the Moore County jail Friday on a $250,000 secured bond. His first court appearance is scheduled for May 12.
