Man wanted in Garner attempted armed robbery surrenders

A man accused of attempted armed robbery at Webb's Mini Mart on Sunday turned himself in to Raleigh police on Monday, according to Garner police.

GARNER, N.C. — A man accused of attempted armed robbery at Webb's Mini Mart on Sunday turned himself in to Raleigh police on Monday, according to Garner police.

Police said Clarence Fred Jeter III, 21, entered the store at 807 W. Garner Road shortly before 7 a.m. He pulled out a chrome or silver handgun and demanded the clerk open the cash register.

Police said the clerk then ran out the back door, and Jeter fled through the front door, without taking anything.

He served probation for a 2007 larceny conviction in Wake County, according to state Department of Correction records.
