Man wanted in Fayetteville convenience store robbery arrested
Fayetteville police made an arrest Saturday in connection with an armed robbery that happened early Friday at a convenience store.

John Michael Volpicelli, of the 5100 block of Hyaden Lane, was taken into custody by the department's violent crimes unit, according to a post on the Fayetteville Police Department's Twitter account.
According to police, Volpicelli, 38, entered the Kangaroo at 2326 Owen Drive, pulled a white skeleton mask over his face and displayed a black semi-automatic pistol.
Police also believe Volpicelli robbed a second Kangaroo at 1960 Cedar Creek Road on Thursday night and a convenience store on Hope Mills Road Saturday morning.
Volpicelli was arrested on the 900 block of Poplar Drive and charged with two counts of robbery with a dangerous weapon. At the time of his arrest, he also had warrants pending for an arrest from unrelated cases. Those warrants were for felony larceny, possession of stolen property, and felony conspiracy.
The Hope Mills Police Department also charged Volpicelli with robbery with a dangerous weapon and second degree kidnapping in connection to a robbery in that jurisdiction.
Volpicelli was being held at the Cumberland County Detention Center on Sunday night under $80,000 secured bond. He was expected to appear in court Tuesday.
