ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. — A 40-year-old man wanted on two counts of first-degree murder in St. Petersburg, Fla. was arrested in Nash County early Saturday morning, state Highway Patrol officials said.

According to authorities in Florida, Raynaldo Figueroa-Sanabria killed John Joseph Travlos and Germana Morin, both of St. Petersburg, aboard a houseboat in the Loggerhead Marina early Friday morning.

Authorities said Travlos and Morin died as a result of upper-body trauma, but not release other details.

Figueroa-Sanabria was taken into custody early Saturday after authorities in Nash County recognized the 2004 Ford Taurus he was traveling in on Interstate 95 North near Rocky Mount. Officials said they believed he was headed to New York.

In addition to two counts of first-degree murder, Figueroa-Sanabria was also held on an outstanding warrant for trafficking cocaine. Authorities from Florida said Saturday they would come to North Carolina to interview Figueroa-Sanabria before taking him back to St. Petersburg.

No other information was released.
