Man shot to death in Durham

Durham Police found a man with a gunshot wound inside a pickup truck after its driver flagged an officer down early Saturday.

DURHAM, N.C. — Durham Police found a man with a gunshot wound inside a pickup truck after its driver flagged an officer down early Saturday.

Officers were dispatched to Linwood Avenue, near Alston Avenue, in response to a 911 call shortly before 4 a.m. The driver of a pickup truck flagged down an officer on Fayetteville, over N.C. Highway 147.

The driver's passenger, a 52-year-old man, had been shot, police said. The victim died of his injuries.

Police have not labeled the death a homicide.They withheld the victim's identity, pending notification of family.
