CLAYTON, N.C. — A 29-year-old Clayton man was rushed to WakeMed late Tuesday after being shot multiple times during a home invasion, a Johnston County Sheriff's Office spokesperson said.

Gregory Hinton was in serious condition early Wednesday after undergoing surgery. Authorities said he was shot about 11 p.m. Tuesday after someone kicked in the back door of his home on Big Pine Road.

Hinton's girlfriend was in the home at the time of the shooting, but she was unhurt, authorities said. No arrests have been made.

Hinton has previous arrests for probation violation, attempted first-degree murder, assault on a female and three counts of child abuse, authorities said.
