A man was shot twice in an eastern Durham neighborhood Sunday afternoon.

<b>DURHAM, N.C.</b> — A man was shot twice in an eastern Durham neighborhood Sunday afternoon.

Police said the shooting took place at 16 Howlett Place, off N.C. Highway 98, shortly after noon.

The man suffered two gunshot wounds to his lower torso. He was taken to Duke University Medical Center, where he was listed in stable condition.

Police did not release the victim's identity.

HOUSTON (AP) — Fast-moving thunderstorms pummeled southeastern Texas on Thursday for the second time this month, killing at least four people, blowing out windows in high-rise buildings, downing trees and knocking out power to more than 850,000 homes and businesses in the Houston area.
