Man shot in chest at home near Apex

The Wake County Sheriff's Office was investigating a shooting in southern Apex near Holly Springs early Monday.

APEX, N.C. — The Wake County Sheriff's Office arrested two men Monday in connection with a shooting that injured a man early Monday.

Deputies were called to a home at 5725 Old Smithfield Road, near Apex, shortly before 5:30 a.m. where they found Dynomite Dwight Gooch, 23, shot in the chest.

He was taken to WakeMed, where he was listed in stable condition Monday afternoon.

Authorities said that they do not believe it was random act.

Christopher Calvin Rogers, 24, of 3516 Bakers Alley, Apex, and Terrel Jamal Bankhead, 23, of 105 Braxberry Way, Holly Springs, face charges of attempted murder, attempted robbery and first-degree burglary and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
