FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — A man barricaded himself in his house in the Massey Hill neighborhood after shooting at his wife during a fight on Friday morning, police said.

Officers responding to a domestic-disturbance call found Danielle Lee outside her home at 2000 Shedd Ave. around 8 a.m.

Lee told police that her husband, Edgar Mason Jr., 42, had fired a handgun at her during a fight and then tried to drag her back into the house. Lee said she managed to escape and call police.

Officers believed Mason had barricaded himself inside the house and had a weapon. After several unsuccessful attempts to contact him, they called in the police department's Emergency Response team.

When the Emergency Response team arrived, Mason surrendered to officers.

Mason was charged with felony domestic assault and kidnapping. He was being held in the Cumberland County jail.
