Man killed, woman critically injured in I-40 crash
A man died and a woman was critically injured after they crashed and were ejected from their vehicle early Friday on Interstate 40 East near New Hope Church Road, exit 263, in Orange County.

HILLSBOROUGH, N.C. — A man died and a woman was critically injured after they crashed and were ejected from their vehicle early Friday on Interstate 40 East near New Hope Church Road, exit 263, according to the Highway Patrol.
Their identities were not released, and troopers said they are not sure who was driving. The woman was in critical condition at UNC Hospitals, according to Trooper W.A. Kerr.
The crash happened around 4 a.m. and shut down all I-40 East lanes for several hours. The highway was reopened by 7:45 a.m.
