A man died early Monday after the car he was driving hit a tree on North New Hope Road near Sue Ellen Drive in Raleigh, police said. 

<b>RALEIGH, N.C.</b> — A man died early Monday after the car he was driving hit a tree on North New Hope Road near Sue Ellen Drive, authorities said. 

Enrico Torrance McLeod, 38, crossed the median after losing control of his 2003 Honda Pilot just after 12:30 a.m., and the vehicle slammed into a tree, police said.

McLeod was taken to WakeMed, where he died.
