Friday is now a WRAL Weather Alert Day. Parts of Hoke, Cumberland and Sampson counties are under a level 2 risk for storms Friday afternoon and evening. The biggest threat will be damaging winds and heavy rain, but an isolated tornado can’t be ruled out in our southern counties. The storms are expected to impact these areas from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m.

State troopers said that a man died in a two-vehicle wreck at Creech Road and N.C. Highway 42 in Kenly early Saturday.

<b>KENLY, N.C.</b> — State troopers said that a man died in a two-vehicle wreck at Creech Road and N.C. Highway 42 in Kenly early Saturday.

Troopers said that Antonio Cantor, 46, was going north on Creech Road and ran a stop sign at the intersection with N.C. 42. His vehicle was struck by oncoming traffic.

Cantor died, and the driver of the other vehicle suffered minor injuries.

Troopers said that speed was a factor in the wreck.
