Man wounded in shooting near Garner police station dies

A 35-year-old Garner man who was shot July 31 at an apartment building across from the police department died Monday from his injuries, Garner police confirmed Thursday.

GARNER, N.C. — A 35-year-old Garner man who was shot July 31 at an apartment building across from the police department died Monday from his injuries, Garner police confirmed Thursday. 

Officers responding to an apartment complex on Seventh Avenue July 31 found Kyevon Diates Frazzell Gayles with gunshot wounds about 7:30 p.m. He was taken to WakeMed, where he died Monday. 

Police are searching for a four-door white Nissan Altima or Maxima that was seen leaving the area after the shooting.

They are also searching a for a man who was described as 6 feet tall with an average build and goatee. He was seen leaving the area with a white hat with a black brim, a white T-shirt and black shorts.
