RALEIGH, N.C. — Raleigh police were investigating a shooting at an apartment complex for disabled and homeless veterans Sunday night that left one man injured.

According to police, officers responded to a shooting at the Hull's Landing apartment complex about 7 p.m. in the 300 block of Sunnybrook Road.

Authorities said Demetrius Roshawn Hinton, 26, was taken to WakeMed. His condition was not immediately available, but police said he suffered a gunshot wound to the torso and a grazing gunshot wound to the head.

A man who lives nearby said these types of incidents were not common in the area.

"I just walked outside to talk to my son, and as soon as I approached his car I heard gunshots," Said Al Caldwell. "That's what made me get in my car and come down here after all th gunshots. I know that was not normal for a Sunday in this area."

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information should call Raleigh Crime Stoppers at 919-834-4357.
